There’s a gentle flow to the evening here—soft strains of classic tunes create a soothing backdrop, encouraging quiet conversations and the easy comfort of a shared meal. It’s the kind of place where the hosts, a husband and wife team, know their regulars by name but always welcome new faces with the same genuine warmth. This hospitality shapes much of the experience, making every visit feel like a thoughtful exchange rather than a transactional stop.

At Ming San, the dining experience unfolds slowly, inviting diners to explore a menu that feels lovingly crafted and deeply rooted in fresh, seasonal ingredients. The distinctive softness and delicate layers in dishes like their teriyaki or the comforting paofan reveal a chef’s care in balancing tradition with heart. Expect a rhythm where each bite reveals subtle textures—from the satisfying crunch wrapped in the soft folds of maki to the smooth richness of sashimi selections prepared with evident precision.

The atmosphere is quietly lively, buoyed by regulars who appreciate the attentive service and the occasional chance to swap stories with the owners. It’s a spot that encourages reservation not just out of necessity but as a way of ensuring this shared intimacy remains intact during your visit. Special moments—whether a small gathering or a birthday—feel personal here, with the attentive couple often personalizing the experience to make their guests feel truly seen and cared for.

The food is really good. Soft, tasty and melty, their teriyaki. Their paofan is really good! Crispy. Yummy! The owners are really nice and friendly. Their music is classic ones too. We had a good chat with them. Best is to drive or cab to their location for convenience. Definitely recommended to visit and will come back again! Oh yes! Best is to reserve your booking first!

Location is slightly random for a Japanese restaurant but I see that this place has it regulars to keep it packed. I was brought here by my sister and brother-in-law who frequent the place often. Not a huge restaurant with perhaps five tables or so, and it’s recommended to make a reservation in advance as they are a family business (thus calling the own shots on opening hours/days at times). Out of all the dishes that we had, I would recommend their oysters and garlic fried rice. We ordered the beef cubes as well which was tender and delicious. I had its Pao Fan (not a dish you see often in a Japanese restaurant) and was delighted at the generosity of the dish’s ingredients and how flavourful the stock was. Lady boss is a lovely lady, always carrying a smile on her face. I’ll be back soon for more of those oysters !

Celebrated my mother in law's birthday at Ming San last night. The owner decided to close the shop to host our party of 17 people, so the husband and wife team can give us undivided attention! The food was superb, all the raw seafood were very fresh. The hit was the tray of Uni, followed by the Sea Robin sashmi which all had to be ordered in advance. The service was also excellent! Highly recommend this place!

Food is excellent!!! I’ve been here many times over the years and the standard of the food has always been consistent. The couple who runs this place are also very friendly, making the whole experience a comfortable one. As a seafood lover, I think my favourite dish is their paofan!! Their Makis are also an excellent choice to go for. Overall, I really love this place and would come here whenever I can Thank you for always leaving my tummy so happy !!

Unassuming nondescript Japanese eatery with only 6-7 tables but truly a gastronomical gem. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. We tried the soft shell crab sushi and garlic fried rice and they were yummy. Ssshhhh….keep this place a secret.

Delicious! I can’t wait to come back. Every dish we had was full of flavour. Very well priced too. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend booking before coming here as there is limited sitting. The food takes long to be ready as there is only 1 person in the kitchen but it’s worth the wait :)

A small, cosy restaurant which was a frequent go-place from a friend and finally i get to try it today. The signature salad was so good that i asked for a 2nd serving. Chicken wings were well marinated, crispy outside and juicy inside. Beef cubes was tender with melt-in-mouth texture that I wanted to bring my son here (he's a beef lover). Overall food was great but a little salty for me as i prefer food with original taste.
